Road Tax on Two Wheeler

The road tax for two-wheelers in Bihar calculated on the basis of the actual cost of the vehicle. During vehicle registration, the vehicle owner has to pay 8% to 12% of the price of the vehicle. 

If an individual has purchased a vehicle in Rs. 50,000 (ex-showroom price), then the individual has to pay Rs. 3500 as a road tax.

Tax for Four-Wheeler

Similar to two-wheelers, the road tax for four-wheelers is calculated by considering the vehicle’s original cost. Currently, the vehicles road tax stand at 8% to 12%.

The road tax for motorcars, jeep and omnibuses up to seating capacity of 12:

Below 1000 kg weight capacity One time tax of Rs. 8000 at the time of registration for the period of 10 years 
Between 1000 kg but below 3000 kg One time tax of Rs. 6500 per ton or part payment at the time of registration in the state for the period of 10 years
Above 3000 kg but below 16000 kg Rs. 750 per ton per year
Above 16000 kg but below 24000 kg Rs. 700 per ton per year
Above 24000 kg of registered laden weight  Rs. 600 per ton per year
